Fiescheralp - Bettmeralp

The winter hike from Fiescheralp to Bettmeralp is a perfect introduction to the snowy magic of the Aletsch region. High above the Rhône Valley, this gentle route combines alpine views, quiet forests, and the simple joy of walking through fresh snow.

The trail is well-prepared and clearly marked, making it suitable even for casual winter hikers. Starting in Fiescheralp, the path leads you across open slopes and through peaceful stretches of woodland. Along the way, the panorama of the Valais Alps unfolds - on clear days, the views feel almost endless, with snow-covered peaks glowing in the winter sun.

One of the highlights of this hike is its calm atmosphere. Far from busy ski slopes, you can enjoy the crunch of snow underfoot and the stillness that only winter brings. Benches and viewpoints invite short breaks to soak in the scenery or snap a few photos.

After about an hour to ninety minutes, depending on pace, you arrive in Bettmeralp, a charming car-free village. It’s the ideal place to warm up with a hot drink or a hearty Valaisan meal before heading back or continuing your alpine adventure.

This hike is a wonderful reminder that winter in the mountains isn’t only about skiing - it’s also about slowing down and enjoying the landscape step by step.
