Braciosa
Slow Down, Breathe, and Feel in Portugal's Ribatejo
Hidden among cork oaks and pine trees in the heart of Ribatejo, near Coruche, lies Braciosa—a carefully restored country house just one hour from Lisbon. It’s a place designed for genuine disconnection, inviting guests to slow down, breathe, and simply feel.
A Thoughtful Restoration
What sets Braciosa apart is the care taken in its renovation. Instead of expanding or rebuilding, the architects worked entirely with the existing structure, prioritizing sustainability and restraint. Lime-based mortars allow the walls to breathe, cork insulation reflects the surrounding landscape, and wood is used throughout for roofing and windows. The result is a house that respects its past while offering modern comfort.
Warm, Lived-In Design
Inside, warm tones and natural textures create an atmosphere of calm. The interiors are furnished with family heirlooms, local crafts, and works by Portuguese artists. Nothing feels staged; everything feels personal, lived in, and quietly authentic.
Space for Eight
Braciosa accommodates up to eight guests. The main house includes two suites, a third bathroom, a cozy living room with fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen with dining for eight. An attic room with four single beds is ideal for children or friends. A former bread oven has been converted into a separate bedroom with its own bathroom and private patio, preserving the spirit of the original structure.
Indoor–Outdoor Living
Life at Braciosa flows naturally outdoors. There’s a covered dining area with barbecue, an outdoor kitchen, seating surrounded by herbs and flowers, and a pool nestled among pine trees. It’s not about luxury excess, but about having everything exactly where it should be.
Braciosa isn’t a resort or a design hotel. It’s a quietly beautiful country house that offers something rare in modern travel: space to be present, surrounded by nature and people you care about. No spectacle—just time, light, silence, and ease.
